[New for 2021: Grappler Type J 3-Piece Model] Grappler Type J offers 12 models for both spinning and baitcasting which cater to most jigging situations. The newly designed blank comes with the high end features such as Spiral X and Hi Power X, both of which are very rare for this price range. In addition to being light, strong and unwavering during fish fights, the spinning model with PE 8 and baitcasting models with PE 6, 7 and 8 are equipped with double-footed MN guides. Rubber gimbals are used on PE 6 and 7 rods while metal gimbals are used for PE rated rods, making it suitable for targeting big game fish.
Shimano’s Spiral X technology is a proprietary rod construction method that strengthens the rod while reducing its weight. It uses three layers of carbon fiber—an inner straight layer, a middle diagonal layer, and an outer layer wrapped in the opposite direction—to minimize blank twist during casting and fighting fish. This results in greater casting accuracy, improved power, and enhanced control, making it ideal for both freshwater and saltwater fishing.
Hi-Power X is Shimano rod technology designed to enhance strength and reduce twisting. It involves wrapping carbon tape in a diagonal, cross-pattern along the outer layer of the rod blank. This creates a reinforced structure that minimizes rod twisting during casts or under load, improving casting distance, accuracy, and overall control. The Hi-Power X technology adds strength without adding much weight, providing a balance of power and precision for various fishing applications.
